ROAD TO RECOVERY

Feeling better but its taking time. I don't want this to turn into an illness blog so the last thing I'll say is that my ears feel stuffed up. Partial deafness isn't very comforting...
We'll be playing our first Manchester show as Hexed Hands at the Retro Bar June 8th. We're looking forward to gigging again and getting back in a positive swing of things.

HELLO LYMPH NODES, BYE BYE BLACKPOOL
Things are feeling worse before they get any better. I have to stay elevated just to make the burning in my ears go away (I sleep on my side, not upright)
Swallowing food or drink hurts. listening to music somehow agitates the fever and going on the computer is only possible in short installments before I need to collapse into my bundle of pillows again....which if my ears touch at all, makes them burn up. I also need to take penicillin every 4 hours so I'm half awake and half asleep between alarms.
So it looks like we wont be playing Blackpool this Friday after all.
Back to bed I go. I hate cancelling shows.

DEAD LOUNGE
No one saw these posters as there was zero promotional effort from the venue. They then proceeded to try and sneak away once we had finished without paying us. It took us grabbing the engineer by the arm and escorting him to the back door where we had to wait for a good 10 minutes for him to come back out with petrol money for us and Blunt Truth. Looking back on it, I feel a little bad for grabbing him because it wasn't his fault that the promoter/owner was hiding in the back and hoping we'd give up on being compensated. The best part was them trying to get out of it through claiming they needed proof of identity through e-mail about being the right band after we played an hour and 45 minute set between us. Jord was able to pull up the facebook transcript where we were promised a backline and payment. No bass amp to be found and we ended up having to borrow cymbal stands and a drum stool from the pub that did open mics across the street. We would have been able to bring all the kit and equipment if anyone had actually returned our e-mails about what was available and who else was playing. The complimentary pint glass was put to good use on the drive home once Jon had finished all of his beer.oh, and it turns out I have a swollen lymph node in my neck mixed with a nice combo of fever, sore throat and earache. Doctor prescribed me penicillin to flush any infection or cases of the clap I might have picked up by hanging around dockside bars late at night.
